Laugh Or Cry, This Story Is Not A Lie!

Even the dogs, Ben and Rolly, remained on "The Stand" without any restlessness. They seemed to know what the goal was, and tried hard to demonstrate respectfully. the Sheltie wasn't mine. This was a "press promo shoot" in Cranbrook taken at the time of the demonstration

Have you ever been driven by an inner passion to the point where you have made a fool out of yourself in the eyes of most people?

I’ve been a radical since the sixties, continuing to stand up against war when the passion overwhelms me. This is just another crazy, but true, Oracle’s tale. Call it late breaking news if you will.

The year was 2002 in the early spring/late winter. The insanity was just starting in the Oval office. I was living in Cranbrook, British Columbia, having made my move there during those anxiety filled days of 911.

The President of the United States was talking a new language of nonsense, plain lies to me. When I heard the word “Unilateralism” for the first time I screamed out “moron.” Then came the words “Preemptory strike,” “Axis of Evil,” and later “Weapons of Mass Destruction.”

I’m sure there were other people who saw what was coming, but sadly they did nothing. I actually formulated a plan of action and tried to carry it out. Sure, I admit to being naive. On only optimistic sixties ingrained sentiments, I boldly stepped into the breach, where no one else wished to be seen. It is said only fools rush in where angels fear to tread. I’m a fool for sure.

I could barely type then, but I did reach out to various Universities, peace organizations, and sundry Arabic organizations, anyone I could think of. I spent over $1000.00 on telephone calls (money I could barely afford). Although I tried, I could not get help to put my website up, “Deep Reflections for Peace Stand.”

My marketing strategy was to change the paradigm for political expression from “Suicide Terrorism to Demonstration Tourism.”(Good for the Canadian economy ) The plan seemed simple to me. My thinking was to invite from all around the world, peace loving people to come stand on the Canadian border.

I think that 9-11 and its aftermath are the defining events of our time. Some of us believe, based on considerable evidence, that elements in the Bush Administration are evil enough to have masterminded 9-11 themselves to further PNAC's (The Project for a New American Century) goal of world domination on the ground, in the air, and in space.

In any case the invasion of Iraq was both illegal and immoral, and certainly involved numerous war crimes and crimes against humanity. That invasion was planned long before 9-11. There's also evidence that the war in Afghanistan had a lot more to do with building an oil pipeline (opposed by a Taliban that America tried to buy) than with capturing Osama Bin Laden, whose family has huge ties to the Carlyle Group in the U.S., on whose board Poppy Bush sits. It seems the Americans have studiously avoided 'getting' Osama.

Plans still seem to be afoot to bomb Iran. This of course would be utterly insane, illegal, immoral, and could draw both China and Russia into a broader world war. But it would be a distraction from Bush's other failures, could help a McCain candidacy, or allow Bush and Cheney to cancel elections altogether and postpone or escape entirely accountability for their criminal behavior.

I have spoken out about this insanity whenever possible. You have done the same. Did we make a difference? Maybe not, but in future if anyone were to say to me 'What did you do to try to stop the madness?' I will be able to answer 'My very best.'. So can you. It seems to me that that is no small accomplishment. Good for you.
