British Youth Suicides and the British Way of Life
The rise of young suicide victims in Bridgend,South Wales,UK is
not a mystery. I live 3 miles from Bridgend, and I recognize lots of
factors that cause young people stress, misery and boredom,
which take young people down the dark path to suicide.
The Cramped, Hectic British Way Of Life
Firstly, having lived abroad most of my life, I have noticed the
type of living conditions Britain accepts as normal. In comparison
to Australia for instance, British suburbs are over populated, cramped,
very hectic and chaotic.
I noted the feeling of being in a small, cramped rush when I arrived in
London in 2002. To me, Britain appeared to be an alien world of highly
over-crowded streets of cars and people, like something out of a
nightmare. British houses are often side-by side by their hundreds -
more concreted and developed than Australian suburbs, which have more
space, being a much larger country. Naturally, by Britain being so small,
over-developed and overpopulated towns cause stress levels much higher
than in Australia. Noise and general activity which the brain processes is
higher in Britain, and has a huge impact on a person's mind and nerves.
Rising migrant workers and immigrant families in Britain has increased
numbers of unemployed, and put availability of houses has declined.
The Inability to Travel in Britain
The cramped physical appearance and living conditions of Britain have a
large stress impact on people, and especially for young people growing
up in Britain. It must be absolute hell to grow up the cramped rush of
British life. Many young people do not drive, and cannot get around easily.
