I actually have to thank a lot of media people for the resolution of my conflict with the U.S. Air Force. It seemed the more questions I had asked of the military, the fewer answers I got, and I was kind of getting to my wit's end. The media actually got the answers before I did.
I had an opportunity to audition for a movie, but the audition was at the exact same time that I was supposed to be at this drill weekend up in Iowa, so I was really frustrated. At the beginning of April, I called a paper in Iowa - the Des Moines Register - which had done a story on me prior to this, back in January. I said to the reporter, "I don't know anything; I don't know why they're making me report in up in Iowa. I need some help, I need some answers."
On Tuesday, the reporter, John Carlson, said he'd make some phone calls and call me back. He called me again a day or two later and said that the military acknowledged that they knew who I was, but that they didn't have any information. The reporter said it kind of caught him off guard that he was getting "no comment," since that normally implies there's something to hide, but said he was for sure going to run a story about my situation in Friday's paper regardless.
On Thursday morning, out of the blue, I got a call from my lawyer telling me that it was over - that the chain of command in Iowa was granting me an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force. I immediately called the Iowa reporter and thanked him, because in my opinion, whatever questions he asked, made somebody react.

By Richard Day Gore, April 28, 2007 at 15:25Guess I'll have to see the movie before I pass judgment! But since it's a horror film I'll bet it's not animals that the title character stuffs.

By kel12, April 27, 2007 at 08:10Does anyone else find it ironic that PETA's new spokesmodel is going to be in a film entitled "The Taxidermist?"
Kel Bel - you definitely
By Heather Wallace, April 27, 2007 at 09:00Kel Bel - you definitely raise a good point!!! But at least she'll be promoting the idea that taxidermy is a scary thing! As long as no animals are harmed in the making of the movie I suppose...what does everyone else think?

By johannabartley, October 13, 2008 at 06:29Michelle must be a very smart and powerful women besides a beautiful one too. I'm surprised to see that she gave up her military career in favor of modeling. Maybe she wanted to prove that models can have great careers besides this one.
