Gimme More Britney!

Britney Spears, boobs, glamour, orato, Gimme More

It's a decent comeback, but I want to see more.

After years of gossip, tabloid speculations and initial let downs, a fifth studio album, along with a new single, has finally been set for release from international phenomenon Britney Spears. The initial response from the new single entitled "Gimme More" has been for the most part, rather positive. However, my concern is, whether or not these rave reviews are merely resulting from the anticipation for the comeback.

It seems many of these initial responses are based solely on the fact that this is an international pop princess, rather than the quality of the single itself.

Overall, the song "Gimme More" is a decent track. It has a nice poppy, club-like sound to it which seems to be "in" these days. Lyrics read well, music is danceable and the chorus is semi-catchy. I can definitely see this as a potential cross-over hit for Britney. However, my sole concern is whether or not this track is best suit as the official "Comeback Single."

When I first heard the single, my first response was "too safe." Previous hits such as: "Baby One More Time," "Crazy," and "Toxic" showed much more aggression and emotion in the lyrics. They came across as a "this is me" kind of attitude.

Though the continued sex appeal in later years received critical reviews, and even hurt career success in the U.S. during "I'm A Slave For You," we at least knew that this was Britney. However, with this new single, it's much more neutral.

I hear no emotion or stance displayed in the track. I'm quite aware this is only one song of an entire album, but the first single, especially one this highly anticipated, should represent the overall theme of the album. As of now, we don't have that. There's absolutely no risk taken in the entire track. This may be good for chart performance today, but will initially hurt the overall success of the album, as well as her career in the future.

One would think that after the poor press and critical acclaim she has received over the last few years of her career, she would be more motivated to put out material that displayed a little more of who she is.

To be honest, I've never

By Seth God of Chaos, September 12, 2007 at 17:09

To be honest, I've never been a Spearhead. From what I've caught of the girl in passing, however, it seems to me she's got much bigger problems than her career to be worrying about. Perhaps this entire fiasco is precisely what she needs, maybe it's a telltale sign she needs to back out of the spotlight for a while to figure out who she is and where she's going as a person. From an outsider's perspective, she appears to be frazzled and not that into it anymore. Perhaps she should just kick it all to the curb and find something that makes her genuinely happy. She is a new mom, lest we forget, it's not like there aren't other directions she can pursue to find fulfillment. The next perky young thing's bound to come along, regardless. They always do.

I agree with you, Heather.

I agree with you, Heather. Please ask Britney to read "There's A Spiritual Solution to Every Problem." She needs to realize that people who intentionally hurt others are miserable themselves. It's obvious how the negativity is affecting her so much. I truly feel for her. I'm disgusted at how little support she's received from her family. I also think it's ridiculous that I know so much about her personal life considering I don't watch TV regularly or buy magazines. The media is so pervasive and invasive. Being a mother is hard work. You are always judged. I can't imagine being a mother in the spotlight like she is. Most mom's can agree that after a break-up, we've all gone a little overboard on the partying and made some decisions with our children that we regret. I hope Britney will come out of this in one piece. My heart goes out to her. And personally, I loved her shaved head.

I believe MTV just announced

I believe MTV just announced Ms. Spears retirement thanks to Sarah Silverman on the VMAs.

From my understanding, MTV scrapped a lot of Britney's comeback performance to mere shreds. No Criss Angel act like previously talked about all across the media.

Although it would be nice for Britney to make a successful comeback b/c she needs this, after what happened tonight, I don't think Britney will have the success she is hoping for since MTV is part of her career. She needs her videos aired and the MTV audience to help escalate her sales.

MTV just tried to put a knife in Britney Spears comeback.

Britney will need to find another route without MTV to make her comeback shine.

How snaky of MTV and Sarah

How snaky of MTV and Sarah Silverman. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. How low do you go Sarah Silverman?

But one thing was very heartening: Britney's peers didn't laugh while Sarah Silverman was stabbing her in the back. I think that was a show of support.

It's time people stop bashing this woman, who has been going through a very trying personal ordeal. If it were me going through a custody battle, I wouldn't be ready to make a comeback.

Britney's shown quite a bit of strength under the circumstances.

Britney and I have been in contact, and I hope she'll use Orato.com as a platform to tell everyone what she thinks of Sarah's performance.

For those who didn't hear

By Michelle Kenneth, September 10, 2007 at 06:21

For those who didn't hear Silverman's comment, she said, "She's 25 years old and she's already accomplished everything she's going to accomplish in life."

The papers in NYC are giving very unfavorable comments towards Ms. Spears performance last night and are agreeing with Silverman.

According to Britney - she

By Heather Wallace, September 10, 2007 at 07:04

According to Britney - she was made aware of Silverman's comments prior to her performance - that is why her heart wasn't in it. She was clearly upset by something.

I just think it's so rude to invite someone to perform and then disrespect them...I don't get it.
